APX-ENDEX Energy Summit

The APX-ENDEX Energy Summit is a new event, but arranged in a style and setting familiar to APX symposium invitees in previous years. The APX-ENDEX Energy Summit provides a high level meeting point and discussion forum for leaders in North West European wholesale energy businesses

 

The main objective of the summit is to stimulate debate about the future design and framework of traded power and gas markets. Attendance is by invitation only. Invitees are important customers and stakeholders of APX-ENDEX. These include key commercial managers in trading businesses, senior exchange and TSO employees, and officials exerting influence over the shape of Northwestern European energy markets.

2010 APX-ENDEX Energy Summit

The APX-ENDEX Energy Summit features an outstanding array of speakers, commentators and panellists. Their contributions cover a variety of themes related to the overall title 2010 "Priced to perfection?" arranged over four sessions:

 

  • Energy commodity prices 2007-2011: driven by fundamentals?
  • Ensuring market integrity and improving transparency
  • Reference prices and investment signals: efficient or distorted?
  • Price discovery and transaction platforms: adequate choices?

2009 APX Symposium

The 2009 APX sponsored energy trading symposium’s debate topics covered implementing market regulation, developing regional markets, evaluating the power market and building a European gas market in the face of a global credit crunch and economic recession which is having a depressing effect on wholesale market energy prices and general market liquidity.

 

This year’s debate was led by a group of highly qualified speakers and panellists representing a variety of market participants – NERA, EU Commission, Endesa, E-Control, RWE Trading, CRE, Eurelectric, GTE, Elia, UBS, ABN Amro, GTS, E.ON, IFIEC, Gas Strategies, CNE and Merrill Lynch.

 

2008 APX Symposium

Following the EU Commission’s 3rd Energy Package which received a mixture of support and criticism, the 2008 APX sponsored energy trading symposium focused on the co-operative and creative input needed to make significant progress in meeting the objectives of creating greater wholesale market liquidity, more competition and choice for energy users.

 

The debates were geared towards examining practical solutions on how all market participants- regulators, energy companies, traders, trade associations, exchanges and users – can and should work together at the regional level to go forward.

 

The debate was led by a group of highly qualified speakers and panellists representing a variety of market participants – NERA, Centrica, CEER, Vattenfall, E-Control, Point Carbon, UBS, EFET, NV Nuon, Global Energy Advisory, EU Commission, Fieldstone Capital, DTe, ETSO, Endesa, CRE, Merrill Lynch, RWE, Citi Group, Syneco, Climate Change Capital and Morgan Stanley.

 

2007 APX Symposium

The 2007 APX sponsored energy trading symposium focused on the factors involved in the creation of a single EU energy market to achieve greater competition and more wholesale power and gas liquidity.

 

The objectives included:

  • Review and evaluate external and internal developments impacting on EU energy markets
  • Analyse the market reform measures proposed
  • Debate what needs to be done, by whom and when to speed up the process of market integration, and
  • Examine the role market participants, regulators and policy makers can work together to make encourage progress

 

The debate was led by a group of highly experienced speakers representing a variety of market stakeholders - NERA, EU Commission, CEER, Deloitte, Gas Strategies, Barclays Capital, EnergieNed, Juno Mother Earth Asset Management, Morgan Stanley, Point Carbon, Endesa, Merrill Lynch, EnBW, Essent, Electrabel and Climate Change Capital.
